The one with food, travel, movies, chick lits… and other social, shiny bits of the Internet

It has been about two weeks since I started my fitness regime. Wow, honestly I thought it was longer than that.
Losing weight is something that I had always wanted to do. As the Fitness First saying goes… “Motivation is what get you started, habit is what get you there”
My motivation was somewhat “shallow”, because I wanted to be as stylish as (and matching to) a certain someone. But as I start to buy new clothes and realised how good it felt to be look good, I think it is only right to do this for myself.
Myself, and no one else. Like how my new year resolution goes… I want to make myself happier this year, and not because of others.
On the “habit” front, well… my workout schedule has been quite erratic. Mostly my fault for not being able to keep to my appointments, but I still managed to work out at least twice a week.
And my diet is going well. Strong coffee in the morning, fruits for lunch, light dinner in the evening. Hunger pangs start to attack again, especially when you have occasions like weddings and meals with friends, but I think I will be able to keep them at bay. Certainly, my diet has become a habit.
Did a little check up with Crix yesterday. To my surprise I have already lost some weight:
As of 17 Jan 2008:
My weight was 84.2 kg
My body fat was 31.7%
As of 2 Feb 2008:
My weight is 81.2 kg (improvement of 3 kg)
My body fat is 29.2% (improvement of 2.5%)
I am sure part of my weight loss is water loss, but I am happy nonetheless. Since I am doing weight training most of the time, I am happy to see how my muscles are shaping up, and how good I look when I was sweating it out working those free weights.
To move forward, I know this is what I need to do:
1) Establish a routine
Two workout sessions with Crix, additional two cardio sessions in the gym, light weight training and/or jogging at home on other days, rest on Sunday
2) Increase my cardio workout
Run longer on the threadmill (from 20 minutes to 45 minutes), and run further around my place (three laps instead of the usual two)
Worth noting as well are two blogs that I am drawing inspiration from. Uncle Sha is someone I know due to our common interest in making money online. He is certainly inspiring with his 1000 abs crunches on a daily basis. Ryan is another one who gives sound advice in losing weight, and I always enjoyed his no-nonsense posts.
So! Perhaps I will check in again in two weeks time to see how I am doing. Thank you for reading this far

3kg in half a month?! terrific improvement man! Jessie says a slimmed-down you will look irresistible.
If you keep it up, you’ll be only hmm.. (12 months X 6kg/month = 72kg) …. GEESH! 9.2kg at the end of this year?! I don’t even dare count the bodyfat percentage. Probably minus.

@ Chris – Aiyoh! You are not the first one who came up with that logic. You know that’s impossible la! All I want is to bring it down to 70 kg, and I will be happy like a bird.
And is your girl hitting on me?!?!?
